About

Laurence Fava is a Kent-based artist born in France and bred in London.

While pursuing an executive career as a language training consultant in the City of London, she studied fashion design at London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martin.

Shortly after, her entire first collection was bought by a prestigious boutique in Westbourne Grove in West London, and her career as a fashion designer was launched.

After a number of successful solo years in fashion, she became, along with her partner Laura Berkeley-Hawkes, the driving force, behind WishList London, a jewellery company that went on to take London Fashion Week by storm.

Always a designer at heart, she subsequently took a small sidestep for a few years to focus on property development and interior design, as well as art investments.

From her young years in her native France, art – in the broad sense of the word - has always been at the core of any of Laurence’s endeavours, and it is therefore no surprise that a move to Kent acted as a launchpad to her own artistic career.

It is now time for her to focus on her own practice, and it has been the catalytic mixture of the sea breeze in her new surroundings and a melancholy for the grittiness of her adoptive, crowded London that has been her inspiration.

Print monotypes, as an artistic transformation process acts as a metaphor to her evolutionary path as an artist in her own right.
